Hi Angela, sorry to hear you had a problem with this recipe. It sounds like you may have used too much Sweet Freedom fruit syrup. It’s important to use a set of measuring spoons to measure ingredients accurately; a tbsp will mean a level tablespoon in all of our recipes.

I did not want to waste it so to rescue it I carefully removed the top layer of filo pastry, drizzled a small amount of extra syrup and sprinkled just a few nuts then popped back in oven for couple of minutes

Hi Lee, thanks for getting in touch. If the baklava was too dry for your taste, we would suggest using a little more of the fruit syrup, although this will alter the calories. Hope this helps and that you enjoy making this again!
