Hi Sharon, tinned tomatoes generally have a more intense flavour than fresh tomatoes so they work well in this soup. We haven’t tried making this with fresh tomatoes, but if you would like to try it, we would suggest a 400g tin of chopped tomatoes is equal to approximately 5 or 6 medium tomatoes (this is a guide only as it’s difficult to know exactly how many chopped tomatoes are in a tin). So in total you could try using around 10 – 12 medium tomatoes. You would need to skin and deseed the tomatoes before using and you could try adding a little tomato puree to make the tomato flavour more intense. Hope this helps!
